Basil ‘Batik’ … full of Eastern promise!

The definition of ‘Batik’ is the Indonesian method of wax-resist dyeing applied to fabric. The results are magnificent and so are the results that this new basil will offer in both your garden and your kitchen!

The Burpee Europe team present Basil ‘Batik’ for 2023, it is stunning ornamentally and deliciously tasty on the tongue!

This fragrant Thai basil has gorgeous burgundy flower spikes and beautifully faintly purple veined foliage.  This singularly attractive plant yields an extended harvest of aromatic leaves ready to flavour soups, salads, curries and even ice cream (the team know this because their colleague made some and it was LUSH!) .

With significant cold tolerance ‘Batik’ flowers late in the season, but the autumn show is worth the wait!
