British Tomato Fortnight New varieties to sow next year!
The Burpee Europe team just love ‘British Tomato Fortnight’ it is always a great chance for them to show off their newest varieties…and tempt tomato lovers to sow them next year!
This year really has been a humdinger of a tomato bounty, with THREE new toms that have been just launched. Two of these super glam varieties were on display at the Chelsea Flower Show this year, with one of them, ‘Bliss’, making it to the shortlist of the RHS Plant of the Year!
Tomato ‘Black Moon’
A double whammy of a tomato, ‘Black Moon’ offers a two-bite cherry tomato which is a real stunner! This superb variety has black skin that becomes lighter as it ripens to orange-red. Fruits have a firm and juicy texture but dripless interiors.
The wonderfully complex flavour of this tomato even beat the legendary ‘Sungold’ during taste tests. The flavour is sweet with a pleasant light acid tang with undertones of almond/praline. It has a slight toffee flavour too, which thrilled us!
Tomato ‘Bliss’
Misery be gone …hello JOY!!! Tomato ‘Bliss’ offers tasty fruit temptations that have a wonderful lightly sweet flavour. The almond shaped fruits ripen to a dazzling yellow with unique green stripes!
These snackable fruits are irresistible fresh off the vine. The heavy yielding plants offer a happy windfall of tomatoes from the height of summer until frost. ‘Bliss’ offers loads of bold colour for party trays and salads.
Tomato ‘Toddler’
One of the most dynamic tomatoes Burpee have bred. ‘Toddler’ bears exceptionally well-proportioned trusses with around 12-16 mid-sized cocktail tomatoes on each truss.
The crack-resistant fruit are super tasty with Brix levels of around 10% and a pleasing acid tang. The strong disease resistance package will help provide trouble-free production all season long.
We dare you to be miserable when you sow, grow and eat these gorgeous treats!
Burpee Europe do not sell direct to the consumer, but their seeds are sold via top UK seed companies. Details of these on request from rabbitattackpr@gmail.com or 07895184395
