Halloween Spooktacular, Autumn Walks & More in October: The Barnsdale Gardens team is getting ready for October with a whole host of events! The ‘Halloween Scary Spooktacular’, the ever popular ‘Autumn at Barnsdale: Breakfast and Guided Walk’, and as well as various autumnal courses, and new ‘Free Nursery Walks’ will also be taking place next month, and trust us, you do not want to miss them!
Autumn at Barnsdale: Breakfast and Guided Walk
This exciting day for all garden lovers will start with a hearty Barnsdale Full English Breakfast at 9:30 am, followed by an exclusive guided tour of Barnsdale Gardens with Nick Hamilton at 10:30 am. You will be able to experience the vibrant colours of the gardens and learn about the star plants and trees of the season. Don’t miss out on this captivating experience!
This event takes place on 9th October between 9:30am – 12:30pm, it costs £40 per person and can be booked on the Barnsdale Gardens website.
Seasonal Crafts and Activities
Join Rutland Book Nook in The Bothy for an exciting FREE craft and activity session! Let’s unleash your creativity and make adorable autumnal crafts like hedgehogs, owls, spiders, pumpkins, and friendly skeletons – nothing too scary, we promise!
This event is perfect for little ones aged 3 and above, and they’ll need adult supervision. While the kids are having a blast, take the opportunity to explore our amazing pop-up shop filled with high-quality Usborne books and gifts. Don’t miss out on this fun and educational experience for the whole family!
This event takes place on 22nd October, 10:30am-12pm and 1pm-2:30pm
Make it a Halloween thriller at Barnsdale! Behind the beautiful and innocent-looking facades of the gardens in the most ghostly of months, beware…there are plenty of frights! Immerse yourself in the enchanting beauty of Weird Woods this autumn. If creativity is your passion, embrace it at the towering display of large, plump pumpkins just waiting to be transformed into Jack O’ Lanterns. This year’s exceptional crop is yours to carve, and the whole family can join in the fun. Each person can take home their own handcrafted pumpkin masterpiece.
This event takes place between 24th & 25th October, 12pm – 4pm AND kids in costume visit for free!
Free Nursery Walk, ‘Plants for an Extended Season of Interest’
Barnsdale Gardens is running a programme of 20 minute free walks and talks in their nursery, covering a range of topics. These short but informative sessions will be given by Emma, who runs the nursery. There is no need to book, just turn up. In the event of rain, the sessions will go ahead in Emma’s big poly-tunnel.
If you feel the need to get into the warmth (and safety!) this October of the Helenium Tea Room a whole host of comforting food and drinks will be available. Vegans do not need to be afraid either, as the brand-new Vegan Afternoon Tea can now be enjoyed, it is served between 3pm and 4pm and must be pre-booked at least 48 hours in advance by telephoning us on 01572 813200
