The medal was presented by the RHS’s Chris Moncrieff in a small ceremony in the Glasshouse Room at RHS Wisley.

Ian said: “I am thrilled to receive this honour for my 40 years in horticulture, an industry that I love and have gained so much from and wish to continue to support.”

Drummond started in the industry at 13 years old and has grown to become the UK’s most highly decorated and acclaimed interior landscape designer, plant stylist, author and ambassador.

Renowned for his work for high profile clients such as Sir Elton John, BAFTA and London Fashion Week, he has become known as ‘plant stylist to the stars’ and has pioneered the shift from indoor plants as mere decoration to treating them as vital, living Biophilic Architecture.

Already a highly celebrated recipient of many prestigious accolades, including multiple Gold medals at RHS Chelsea Flower Show and plants@work Gold Leaf awards,  earlier this year Ian won the Best in Horticulture title at the UK Business Awards for his work with houseplants, was included in the Horticulture Week’s houseplant leaders list 2026, and was short listed for the  Prolandscaper Landscaping Champion award.

And just last week Ian was also honoured by plants@work for his 40 year ‘Ruby Jubilee’ and was presented with a ‘Ruby Watering Can” by plants@work chairman Kenneth Freeman – a fitting tribute to Ian’s passion, creativity and four decades of inspiring service to our industry.
