Make it a Zen Mothering Sunday at Barnsdale Gardens

Make it a Zen Mothering Sunday at Barnsdale Gardens: Are you having trouble thinking of the perfect day out for your mum for Mothering Sunday this year? Why not try something a little bit Zen and clear your mind at Barnsdale Gardens?

With the hustle and bustle, and (let’s be honest), the pretty bonkers world we now live in, finding a calming place to enjoy or simply sit and reflect can be a godsend.  Barnsdale Gardens based in Rutland is a gem of a place to visit as each of the 38 gardens allows you to surround yourself with the beauty of nature and relax.

One of the superbly designed gardens is the Japanese Garden which comes alive in March.  It offers a breathtaking display of flowering cherry trees (Prunus x yedoensis) alongside a diverse range of stunning plants such as Hosta, Pachysandra, Acer palmatum ‘Ornatum’, Prunus incisa ‘Kojo-no-mai’, Skimmia, Osmanthus heterophyllus ‘Goshiki’, Trochodendron aralioides, Chaenomeles, and Hemerocallis.

This garden is a remarkable testament to design excellence, elegantly blending two distinct styles of Japanese gardens.  A beautifully winding slate path connects both halves, with each carefully chosen element working in harmony to create a truly serene and tranquil atmosphere.

After you and your mum have had a fine time breathing in…then out…and cleansing your chakras, it will jolly well be time to eat!  Restoring one’s balance can make you peckish!  So without further ado, we recommend heading on over to Helenium Tea Room for the special Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea!

A visit to the Barnsdale Gardens Shop will be the cherry on the cake for this special day.  Here you will be able to treat your mum to plants, tools and garden accessories or even a copy of the brand new book ‘The Right Jeans’ written by the owner of Barnsdale Gardens, Nick Hamilton!

Come and discover the beauty and tranquillity of the gardens for yourself.  You won’t be disappointed.
