Red and white sunflowers that are fit for a King!
Only a couple of weeks until the coronation of our new King Charles … hurray! We hope you are as excited as we are! And to mark this special occasion, it seems only fitting that we share some of our brand new red and white sunflower varieties … we only wish we had some blue too!
The Burpee Europe team have been resplendent in their sunflower breeding and selection this year, it is almost as if they knew that the United Kingdom would soon be desiring these blooms in these hues for a jolly good celebration in 2023!
Sunflower ‘Desire Red’
Really does not need introducing to you all I am sure. This bloom sure is a fancy pants, so much so that is won Fleuroselect GOLD this year! This helianthus, which is perfect for growing in the garden or in pots, will be making her debut at the Chelsea Flower Show in May!
Sunflower ‘Cherry Rose’
You want a great sunflower for cutting and making fab displays? Then this beauty is for you! This fast-maturing variety produces cherry red flowers with delicate yellow tips in just 40 to 60 days. This contrasts beautifully with the dark chocolate centre.
Sunflower ‘Rouge Royal’
Regal by name and stunning in nature … this really is a bloom fit for a coronation! With its intensely dark red burgundy flowers, Rouge Royal is ideal for inclusion in bouquets and the plant produces a profusion of rich blooms on multiple stems
Sunflower ‘ProCut® White Nite’
This flower is truly unique within the sunflower world. The flower opens with a creamy vanilla colour that quickly turns white within a few days of sunlight. This contrasts spectacularly with the dark centre. The ProCut® White Nite is ideal for use in spring bouquets.
Make the most out of your coronation celebrations this year and plant a new sunflower for all to enjoy!
Burpee Europe do not sell direct to the consumer, but their seeds are sold via top UK seed companies. Details of these on request from rabbitattackpr@gmail.com or 07895184395
