SGLD announces six new fellowships for 2025: The Society of Garden + Landscape Designers has announced its 2025 Fellowships with six leading garden designers being awarded the honour in recognition of their outstanding contribution to the profession and to the wider landscape and horticultural industry.
The SGLD Fellowship is the highest honour bestowed by the Society, awarded to Registered Members who have made a sustained and significant impact through their work, innovation, leadership, or influence on the profession. The 2025 recipients are:
Charlotte Rowe FSGLD | Tom Massey FSGLD | Joe Perkins FSGLD
Matthew Wilson FSGLD | Robert Myers FSGLD | Luciano Giubbilei FSGLD

SGLD announces six new fellowships for 2025
All six designers have worked with the Society either as judges of the SGLD Awards, speakers at SGLD Conferences or as Council members and have made an invaluable contribution to promoting the profession and educating the public.
Chair of the Society, Andrew Duff MSGLD said: “Each of these designers has demonstrated exceptional creativity, vision, and commitment to excellence. Their work has shaped the direction of contemporary garden design and inspired both the profession and the public. We are proud to recognise their achievements with Fellowship of the Society.”
The six new Fellows join an esteemed group of professionals whose work represents the highest standards of design and environmental responsibility. They include Fellows such as Juliet Sargeant FSGLD, Marian Boswall FSGLD, Tommaso Del Buono FSGLD, Jo Thompson FSGLD and Tom Hoblyn FSGLD. Collectively, their portfolios span private gardens, public landscapes, show gardens, and educational projects that push the boundaries of innovation and sustainability.
CHARLOTTE ROWE FSGLD
Charlotte established her West London studio in 2004 and has since designed more than 300 gardens, terraces, and landscapes across the UK and internationally. She won a Gold Medal at the 2014 RHS Chelsea Flower Show for ‘No Man’s Land’, commemorating the centenary of World War One, and has received numerous other industry awards.
Charlotte led the SGLD communications committee, has spoken at SGLD Conferences and regularly speaks on landscape design around the world.
TOM MASSEY FSGLD
A multi-award-winning garden designer, Tom Massey is recognised for his innovative, sustainable, and wildlife-friendly gardens and is the author of several books on sustainable design.
He is also a dedicated mentor and lecturer to garden design students, serves on the judging panel for the SGLD Student Awards, and is a regular speaker at SGLD Symposiums and industry conferences.
ROBERT MYERS FSGLD
A leading garden designer and landscape architect, Robert has won seven Gold Medals and the RHS People’s Choice Award for his gardens at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. He is also an accredited RHS Gardens Judge. He particularly enjoys the challenges of working in complex historic landscapes and significant public spaces and is as passionate about designing urban areas as he is about creating landscapes for country estates.
JOE PERKINS FSGLD
Joe Perkins has been involved with the RHS Chelsea Flower Show for nearly two decades and is currently training as an RHS Judge. With over 25 years of experience creating gardens in the UK and abroad, Joe focuses on how well-designed green spaces can enhance wellbeing and address environmental concerns. He has received multiple awards for his work.
MATTHEW WILSON FSGLD
An award-winning garden and landscape designer, writer, radio & television broadcaster and lecturer, Matthew has almost 30 years experience in the horticulture and garden design industry, with a decade spent in senior roles at the Royal Horticultural Society.
Beyond his own practice, Matthew has made a major contribution to the profession — shaping standards in horticulture, championing sustainability, and promoting innovation through his teaching, writing, and public engagement. His work continues to inspire new generations of designers and to advance the industry’s response to climate, ecology, and the built environment.
LUCIANO GIUBBILEI FSGLD
Luciano Giubbilei began his garden career in London in 1994, founding his own practice after graduating from the Inchbald School of Design in 1997. His work emphasizes collaboration with artists, architects, plantsmen, and craftsmen to expand the creative process. A transformative residency at Great Dixter in 2012 inspired experimental planting approaches, leading to larger landscape projects across Europe and the US, documented in his latest book, The Art of Making Gardens.
