Showtime for Snowtime at Barnsdale Gardens

From the 2nd to 28th February, Barnsdale Gardens invites visitors to its annual Snowdrop Season (open daily 10am to 4pm), when thousands of delicate white blooms take centre stage across the gardens. From much-loved classics to rare and unusual varieties, snowdrops appear in generous drifts, unexpected corners and star turns throughout the landscape, all woven into a backdrop of rich winter colour.

New for 2026, visitors can also enjoy Barnsdale’s very own ‘Snowdrop Theatre’, proving that even in winter, the gardens know how to put on a show.

This is no quiet rehearsal. Brightly coloured bark, jewel-like berries, sweeping hellebore displays and the famous Geoff Hamilton Winter Border, home to over 9,000 individually hand-planted snowdrops, ensure February is anything but dull. Admission includes access to the gardens and the chance to soak up the Barnsdale team’s snowdrop expertise at no extra charge.

Special Events: Winter and Snowdrops Walk

For those wanting a behind-the-scenes experience, Barnsdale Gardens is also hosting Winter and Snowdrops Walks on the 10th and 14th February (9.30am to 12.30pm).

Guests will be treated to a complimentary cooked breakfast before joining Nick Hamilton for a guided tour exploring the inspiration behind each garden. It’s a rare opportunity to see just how much colour, structure and drama winter gardening can deliver.

Breakfast is served from 9.30am, with the walk beginning at 10.30am.

With snowdrops in full performance mode, Barnsdale Gardens is proving that February deserves a place in the gardening calendar.
