Summer Vegetable Weekend at Barnsdale Gardens

Summer Vegetable Weekend at Barnsdale Gardens: If you love growing your own food, Barnsdale Gardens is the place to be on the weekend of 9th –10th August!

Since Geoff Hamilton launched Barnsdale in 1983, the gardens, located in Rutland, have been a beacon of sustainable and organic gardening. Geoff’s ‘great experiment’ in peat-free and chemical-free cultivation has grown into a flourishing example of eco-friendly food production…principles that are still proudly upheld today.

For this special weekend, the Barnsdale team are opening up their productive growing areas, which are normally off-limits to the public! Their expert grower, Susie, will be on hand throughout the event to offer advice, share tips, and chat about all things veg.

If you’ve visited earlier in the season, now’s the perfect time to see the crops coming into full fruit. And on Sunday 10th August, join Susie’s guided tours of the fruit and vegetable plots at 12pm and 2pm.

Plus:

  • Enjoy delicious tasters made with Barnsdale-grown produce in the Helenium Tea Room
  • Kids can take part in fun gardening activities and vegetable sowing

Come along, get inspired, and discover how easy and rewarding it is to grow your own!

There’s plenty to see and do all year round at Barnsdale Gardens!
