Lawn Association welcomes new Vice Chairman
David Hedges-Gower, Chairman of The Lawn Association, shared his enthusiasm: “We are absolutely delighted to welcome Richard on board. His extensive knowledge in lawn care, turf care, and very importantly, soil biology is outstanding. But it’s his commitment to sustainability in soil management that will truly benefit all our members and visitors. Richard and I worked together many years ago at The Oxfordshire Golf Club, and I’ve watched him go on to build an incredible career.” Hedges-Gower added, “We couldn’t be more thrilled to tap into his wealth of knowledge.”
Career
Richard’s impressive career includes roles such as Superintendent at the prestigious Hertfordshire Golf Club, as well as consulting on sustainability practices, seed selection, and soil biology.
Alongside Richard continuing his role as a consultant with Soil Biology Ltd, he will also contribute to a range of educational initiatives, including webinars and training events with the Lawn Association.
His expertise will also extend beyond lawn care, helping professionals in the wider horticultural industry, such as growers, nurseries, and gardeners, gain valuable insights into soil biology and sustainable practices. With innovative products like the True Garden range available, the Association’s focus on soil biology is clear.
Richard emphasised the importance of this work, stating: “Soil biology is fundamental to all aspects of gardening, and knowledge is power. A sustainable future for both lawns and gardens depends on it.”
