Tom Hoblyn and Arabella Lennox-Boyd awarded fellowships: The Society of Garden Designers (SGD) is delighted to announce that Tom Hoblyn and Arabella Lennox-Boyd, two of the most highly regarded garden designers in the industry and both long-standing members of the Society, have been awarded Fellowships in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the profession.
Arabella Lennox-Boyd FSGD, is one of the most celebrated landscape designers in the UK, with over fifty years of experience and more than seven hundred gardens to her name worldwide. Her achievements include six Gold Medals at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show and an impressive portfolio ranging from commercial projects, such as the roof garden at No. 1 Poultry in London and the Serpentine North Gallery in Hyde Park to grand private estates across Europe, the US, and beyond.

A true pioneer in her field, Arabella has been recognised for her contributions to horticulture and design with numerous accolades, including the RHS Veitch Memorial Medal, an Honorary Doctorate of Design from the University of Greenwich, and the International Prestige Prize Torsanlorenzo. She has held prestigious positions within the RHS Woody Plants Committee, Kew Gardens, and the Chelsea Physic Gardens, amongst many others. Her lifetime dedication to innovative and sustainable garden design has left a lasting legacy on landscapes worldwide.
Tom Hoblyn FSGD, an acclaimed landscape designer, horticulturist and plantsperson, has been recognised for his innovative approach to garden design, with a career that spans numerous award-winning projects. With a particular focus on the use of natural landscapes to create contemporary and sustainable gardens, Tom has earned widespread recognition for his work at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, where his gardens have consistently won critical acclaim.
His approach to garden design goes beyond aesthetics—he focuses on creating spaces that promote biodiversity, support well-being, and exist in harmony with their environments. His recent projects include a healing garden for a children’s hospice, in collaboration with Greenfingers Charity, and rewilding schemes on the Suffolk coast, all reflecting his “gardens with purpose” philosophy.
On receiving the Fellowship Tom said: “I am truly delighted and deeply appreciative of the Council’s recognition of my contributions to the SGD and garden design profession.
“Being a member of the SGD has been instrumental in shaping my career, providing both inspiration and support throughout the years. This Fellowship feels like a culmination of that journey, and I am proud to continue being a part of such an influential community.”
