Snowdrops, Strolls & Scrumptious Afternoon Teas: Wrap up warm and step into a winter wonderland this coming February at Barnsdale Gardens in the heart of the East Midlands! February is officially Snowdrop Month, and there’s no better time to wander through the breathtaking snowdrop walk, a true early-spring spectacle and a seasonal favourite.
Between the 2nd and 28th of February is the ideal time to discover a dazzling display of these stunning blooms throughout the gardens, from much-loved classics to rare and unusual varieties that will delight gardeners and flower lovers alike.

On the 10th and the 14th of February, the ever-popular “Winter and Snowdrops: Breakfast and a Guided Walk” experience will be taking place. Start your day with a delicious breakfast before joining a guided tour with Nick Hamilton, who will reveal the stories and inspirations behind each of the 38 individually designed gardens. Look out for colourful winter barks, jewel-bright berries, elegant drifts of hellebores, and the spectacular Geoff Hamilton Winter Border, home to over 9,000 hand-planted snowdrops.
After your frosty adventures, it will be time to warm up and refuel at the Helenium Tea Room, where the indulgent Winter Afternoon Tea is served from 1st January to 28th February 2026.
As a special treat or a gift, this lovely afternoon tea includes entry to the Gardens for the perfect day.
- A selection of freshly-made dainty sandwiches: Egg mayonnaise and cress; Ham and mustard; Cheese and pickle; Bacon and cranberry sauce, with a sausage roll.
- Vegetarian option: Cheese and chutney; Egg mayonnaise and cress; Roasted veg and hummus and Cheese and tomato.
- Sweets: Two homemade scones with clotted cream and jam; Eton mess and Cake. All served on Bone China with a pot of tea or coffee.
- All served on bone china.
Priced from £23.95 per person, Afternoon Tea is served between 2pm and 3pm and must be pre-booked at least 48 hours in advance. There is also a vegetarian and vegan option too!
